What to do in May in Amsterdam

Vondelpark Open Air Theater starts May 14 until September 11th and is a free theater for everyone to visit in the centre of the Vondelpark. You can watch performances of modern dance, children’s theater, jazz or cabaret every friday, saturday and sunday. There are also classical lunch-concerts and every year there’s the popular sunday afternoon program with pop, rock, Dutch and World Music acts. Click here for more information.

The Roots Festival. This musically-inspired exhibition at the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam addresses a cultural revolution that spread across the world from Africa and the Caribbean, delivering genres such as jazz, blues, and reggae. ‘Rhythm & Roots’ is a colourful visual representation of the influence that the movement had on the world. Experience this vibrant exhibition from 13 May until 30 October 2016.

Another great event to go to is Rollende Keukens (Rolling Kitchens) on the Westergas terrain. Over a hundred campers, mopeds, double-deckers and vans are transformed to small kitchens that serve a diversity of food and drinks for every taste. Pizza’s, fresh soups, refined fish-dishes and smoothies can be consumed while watching an outdoor movie or in the sun. Click here for an impression of last year.

We wish you lot’s of fun whatever event or exhibition you are visiting, the weather is already great (finally) so enjoy! Find that perfect dress or top to wear on your day out on our website and check the storefinder for a selling point near you. Have a great week!

Love, 10 FEET

Pllek 2.5

– Weekend/Week tip –

Amsterdam’s Pllek has been open for two and a half years and throws a week-long double party in celebration of both its anniversary and, belatedly, its launch. The week of celebrations runs from 25 to 31 October 2014, ending with a spectacular ‘opening party’: Fireproof.

The week-long celebrations are as varied as the venue’s cultural schedule itself, involving art, dance, theatre, film, classical music, a morning rave and, in the restaurant, a chef’s special. Click here to go to the website for the full program!

Weekend tip:

– Pluk de Nacht –

Pluk de Nacht Open Air Film Festival is the largest open air film festival in the Netherlands. This Friday and Saturday are the last two days in Amsterdam. Then they are going to Utrecht, the Hague and Arnhem. So if you are in the mood for a special film then you must go to the Stenen Hoofd in Amsterdam today or tomorrow.

Fingers crossed it will stay dry on these evenings!
